Heritage

Historic restoration and adaptation of older buildings has long been a special interest of the firm. Our approach begins with a thorough understanding of the building and the community it serves. Our team has the needed expertise in authenticity and technical construction to maintain the architectural integrity within realistic budgets. Lessons learned with many Heritage designated properties in addition to adaptive re-use projects, has proven to show experience is the best teacher.

The surface conditions of buildings may only reveal subtle problems when in reality conditions underneath may have extreme consequence. Testing to the envelope should be comprehensive to fully explore and identify issues within the various buildings assemblies. Our team uses digital three-dimensional scanning and infrared thermography (IRT), to collect accurate building data. This method allows for precise measurement and the recording of information. This is useful immediately in terms of identifying areas of structural settlement or fatigue and the thermal performance of the building envelope. This pre-construction research permits a holistic approach to the restorative work.
